Latest mazda3 Questions:

  • Is a Mazda3 considered a decent car for college?
I'm looking at the 2010 and up Mazda3 iSport models Are these good, reliable cars for a starting car? Currently I drive an '01 Protege, but after High school I plan on buying a Mazda3, probably not 2010 by the time I graduate, but more like 2012 Mazda3.
Answer:Sure. The Mazda3 is a good car and very reliable.

  • How to display the temperature on a mazda3 stereo?
I have a 2004 mazda3, and I have seen on other mazda3 that the stereo shows the temperature!, but mine not. It should display it, shouldnt it?
Answer:The outside temp is displayed in place of the inside temp. There is a button that says "AMB" for ambient temperature. Push this button and the outside temp will pop up where the inside temp is usually listed on the radio screen. If you do not ahve this button you do not ahve teh feature.

  • How much would it cost to repaint a 2005 Mazda3?
I just bought a used 2005 Mazda3 for a really good price, but I don't like the color. I want to paint it black with the same kind of gloss as the current paint job. How much would this cost, generally?
Answer:You should research your types of paints. There is base coat/clear coat (which is the most expensive), then there is acrylic enamel, and urethane. Check out paint prices online for a gallon and then call around to shops to see if you can bring your own paint. If not, depending on the type of medium used, you are looking at between $300 up to $750. Good luck shopping!!!

  • How can the check engine light codes on a 2004 Mazda3?
Yes I can use an OBDII scanner, but that's not what I mean. Other cars can check their engine codes by counting the number of blinks of the check engine light after a specific key on/off cycle. Can Mazdas do this? More specifically the Mazda3?
Answer:i know what you are talking about, in protege you have to plug the ten pin with the second pin and turn the key engine light with start blinking, but i dont know if this works for new mazda 3 i guess it dont work because engine in bigger than protege and ecu is also different

  • What does a variable tumble solenoid valve do on a Mazda3?
I have a 2006 Mazda3 & the dealer says that the variable tumble solenoid valve is out. What does that part do?
Answer:Basically, that shortens the duration of the intake valve, increasing the speed of the charge, which causes better mixing. This increases mixing, reducing pollutants and somewhat increasing the low-end torque. It is explained clearly with diagrams here: http://www.mazda6tech.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=0 Fairly interesting, some of the other technology is also there.

  • Is there a difference between the Mazda3 and the Mazdaspeed3 besides the turbo?
As in, if I were to put an MS3 turbocharger in a Mazda3, would it be the exact same thing?
Answer:Why would you even do that? It wouuld cost a lot more money to put a working turbo into a regular mazda3 than just buying a ms3 in the first place. just look at it this way. the regular mazda3 was designed as a fun grocery getter. the ms3 is designed to be a pocket rocket. the ms3 also has different suspension settings, bigger wheels, different interior, and subtle exterior differences such as bumpers, grilles, spoilers, etc. so no, it would not be the exact same thing

  • Can mazda3 17 inch alloy wheels fit on a mazda6?
I am trying to buy 2006 mazda3 17 inch wheels and put them on my 2003 mazda6, but i am not sure if i can do that with out harming my car. The mazda3 17 inch wheels i am getting: 17x6-1/2, 5 lug, 114mm Indented spoke ends 5x114 The mazda6 17 inch alloy wheel specifications: 17 x 7, with 5 lug on 114 mm Indented spoke ends 5x114. I can see that all the numbers match except for 17X7 (for mazda6) and 17X6.5 (for mazda 3). Does this mean i cannot put mazda 3 17 inch wheels on my mazda6? By the way my mazda6 right now has the steel wheels with hub caps and they are either 15 inch or 16 inch wheels. Since i am going higher on the rim size a bit, does it hurt my suspensions? Thanks, Sandeep. I AM SORRY, RIGHT NOW I HAVE 16 INCH WHEELS ON MY CAR AND I AM TRYING TO PUT THE 17 INCH WITH P205/50R17 TIRES. rIGHT NOW I HAVE P205/60R16. LOOKS LIKE MY TIRE WILL BE A BIT BIG BUT LOW PROFILE, IS THIS GOOD FOR MY CAR.
Answer:The wheels will fit, the P205/50R17 88V Mazda 3 tires are not a good idea however. They are too small in diameter and have a much lower load carrying capacity than the P215/50R17 93V tires a Mazda 6 should have.
